Old Mandeville · since the start

Partnered with Flamjeaux Coffee Co. for all of our coffee beans. Soup from Stefani's stove. A back courtyard with string lights. Stop in for breakfast. Stay for the morning.

We went to The Bean for a Mary Kay event. Of course they were closed, but the atmosphere was so amazing. It is such a cute, quaint, eclectic place. I must say the coffee did smell amazing. I hope to go during hours of operation.

I cannot review "food" but i did have a coffee and it was terrific. The food options looked amazing, so i will return for an update! The staff was so sweet and full of life. I hesiststed to walk in as they were only open 20 more minutes, but they didn't seem to mind at all. In fact, six more people walked in behind me and the employees were just as jovial! It's a great place to sit and stay, especially for a girls day out.

What an eclectic little coffee shop in downtown Mandeville! Don’t expect drive through speed, but quality and attention to details with a great atmosphere is the reason to stop by! Breakfast items are available but didn’t try any of them. Local artists also sell their creations. Will visit again when I’m back in town!

This is such a cute spot in Old Mandeville to grab a great coffee and delicious breakfast sandwich! On top of the coffee and food being delicious, the service was fantastic!

Nestled just a stone's throw away from Mandeville Lakefront, The Book & Bean is a charming, cozy coffee shop with comfort of a local hangout. This delightful spot offers an array of locally sourced items for sale, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for patrons seeking solace by the serene lakefront. The shelves at The Book & Bean are adorned with a decent collection of books where you might find something that piques your interest. The coffee at The Book & Bean is top-notch. They have a variety of options and blends to choose from. The staff is friendly. It's not just a coffee shop; it's a small slice of the community.

Our story

Tucked into a 19th-century cottage on Girod Street.

The Bean is what happens when a coffee shop is also a kitchen and a back porch. Stefani makes the soups herself. The coffee comes from Flamjeaux right down the road.

String lights, mismatched chairs, the back-porch hush. We open early, and the regulars have figured this out. Feel free to join them.

Two blocks off the lakefront. Pull up to the curb — there's almost always a spot. Sit in front, sit in back, sit too long.
